Introduction to maintenance-free lead-acid batteries
The characteristic of maintenance free lead-acid batteries, as the name suggests, is "maintenance free". Compared to lead-acid batteries, it consumes very little electrolyte and does not require the addition of distilled water during its service life. It also has the characteristics of shock resistance, high temperature resistance, small size, and low self discharge. Of course, on the other hand, its price will also be more expensive than lead-acid batteries. As for the service life, the recommended replacement cycle for maintenance free batteries under normal circumstances is about 3 years, which is equivalent to lead-acid batteries.
In order to avoid daily maintenance and upkeep, the design of its exhaust system differs significantly from lead-acid batteries, so theoretically, it is not necessary to frequently add distilled water or electrolyte. In addition, the casing of maintenance free lead-acid batteries is generally enclosed and cannot be self inspected unless there are professional tools and techniques.
Although maintenance free lead-acid batteries are called "maintenance free", they cannot be completely ignored. It is generally recommended to check the battery every 30000 kilometers and perform maintenance every 80000 kilometers. However, there are very few 4S stores or repair shops that can perform this operation, and the service life of maintenance free batteries is relatively fixed. Under normal use, they need to be replaced every 2-3 years, and there is no way to extend their service life.
